firefighters are known for taking quick action and performing under pressure, and mid-state's fire protection technician program prepares students to be successful in this challenging role. graduates learn the knowledge and techniques needed to save life and property during fires, medical emergencies, and other hazards.
this program will expose you to realistic simulations, inside and outside the classroom. you will train on our state-of-the-art burn tower, fire engines, and other high-tech equipment. developed in partnership with local fire departments, this program ensures you have a competitive edge when starting your career, and local demand for highly skilled firefighters is rising.
certain courses in mid-state's fire protection technician program prepare students to obtain state certification to be employed/practice in the state of wisconsin. the college does not guarantee its curriculum matches the requirements for preparation, examinations, or licensure for other states.

instructors
brandon hageman, aas, bas
in addition to a bachelor’s degree in fire and emergency response management from the university of wisconsin–oshkosh, brandon also holds a variety of fire and emergency services certifications as well as an e-learning and online teaching graduate certificate. he started his career as a firefighter/emt after serving four years in the us navy as an aircraft mechanic. brandon has also served as a paid-on-call firefighter/emt for the city of fitchburg, wisconsin, and a career firefighter/emt with the city of rochester, minnesota. to keep current with knowledge, skills, and abilities, he currently serves as a paid-on-call firefighter/emt with the village of plover.
